Professionally, January is notoriously slow in the photography world, it is a great time to spend time honing the craft. Personally, coming off of the holiday season, it is a great time for a little break from mommyhood. So, when I saw a workshop with senior photographer Spanki Mills on the beach… I HAD to jump on it.
I have to be honest, it wouldn’t have taken much for it to be a good experience. I was happy with 2 nights of no one asking me to make them a meal or do the dishes. Being at the beach and staring at this view alone would have gone far in rejuvenating me.
With that being said, this workshop was phenomenal. In a pretty competitive industry, Spanki was very open and giving with her information. She genuinely wanted to help each of us, even people who could be seen, by proximity, as direct competitors. She was very straight forward and very real. That really impressed me. She impressed me.
The rest of the women were FABULOUS and I am so excited to have those new connections. It was a great experience and I am ready to take on 2014 with a whole new level of energy and become Round Rock’s go to senior photographer.
